Hey, I’m Maddie! I’m a thirty-something millennial, and a new indie author who has two great loves of her life: spicy books, and music. I hope they both shine through in each of my works.
My love for romance books stems from my fanfic days which, embarrassingly, predate Gmail and even the prominence of Google. (Ask Jeeves, anyone?) It just took me twenty years to start working on my own books seriously.
In January 2022, after years of dreaming, I finally began bringing my own novels to life, and over the course of two years, I juggled writing and editing four books more or less at the same time. That’s why I say I have four debut novels. In a way, each one of them was my first. The first two released in December 2023, with the third in January 2024, and my “final” debut novel (coincidentally, the first one I ever finished writing) in July of 2024.
As close as those first four stories are to my heart, I’ll be the first to admit they’re atypical in plot, characters and pacing, and are definitely not for everyone. They are stories that were important to me to tell and stay true to, but probably aren’t what you’re used to reading. I strive to improve my skill at this craft with every novel I write, and that was never more well-received than with the early response to my fifth book, Rekindling the Flame, book 1 of Smoky Heights. It truly feels like we’ve entered a new era, and I hope it’s just the beginning!
For those who have read all of my back works, I do hope you found comfort in the familiar writing style—exceedingly casual, quick, easy-to-read books that are immersive and relatable, with humor, spice and some emotional depth—but I hope each and every book I put out somehow becomes your new favorite from me.
I have big plans for 2025 and beyond, and can’t wait to bring more love stories to life for you. I have almost thirty in the works across more than five different series, and just wish for more time in the day to get them all out sooner.
So thankful for every reader, and all the kind words and responses shared with me so far. Thanks for giving me and my books a chance!
XOXO,
Maddie
PS
If you’re new to me, I’d recommend starting with the Smoky Heights series, or The Roommate Syndrome after that. (Or if you’ve got a taste for toxic angst, you might like Always My Forever…)
